I am a contract Graphic Designer by profession but my original passion has always been illustration. Although my adult life doesn't always allow me to be as active as I was in my younger years, I still hope to create and contribute for years to come. Outside of art I am passionate about dog training and operate as a Search and Rescue volunteer. I am currently raising my youngest dog as a SAR K9 and have about a year left before our training is complete and I've freed up more time.

Thank you for the add!
Many years of repetitive practice. I recommend working on drawing it monochromatically to start. This helps with knowing how to create depth before adding colors into the mix. I did a lot with a single colored pen or pencil on paper before transitioning into digital or colored pencil art. Find a photo you like of your favorite animal and try to follow the length and direction also start paying attention to how it lays over muscles and fine details and how to create contrast. I also recommend drawing from life once you are ready to start moving away from stagnant references. If you have a pet grab your notepad and draw them on the spot. For wildlife, my sister and I used to go to the zoo and draw. That's a bit harder with COVID restrictions now but I really like nature documentaries for this too!
